The Magnificent Bas-Saint-Laurent Region!

I was recently lucky enough to collaborate with Tourisme Bas-Saint-Laurent to promote Mushroom Month! The Bas-Saint-Laurent region is renowned throughout Quebec for its forest mushrooms, and during my weekend in Kamouraska, I explored this fascinating and delicious world through a variety of activities.

This was my second visit to the region, and I must say that I’m particularly fond of this place. Being by the river in such a magical setting is a truly special and unique experience. I thought I’d share my recommendations based on my last two visits! A special mention goes to the Auberge sur Mer, where I was fortunate enough to stay during my weekend. It’s an absolute must-visit in the region!

Activités :

• La vie est Mush: This small business in Kamouraska offers forest hikes, during which you can discover the region’s wide variety of forest mushrooms. I loved this activity!
• Hike to the Cabouron de Saint-Germain: I did this hike with my mother last year and would highly recommend it! It’s an easy trail offering magnificent views of the region and the river.
• Take a stroll through the village of Kamouraska and along the riverbank — it’s a must if you’re in the area!
• Pick your own fruit in the local fields.
• Bic National Park: I haven’t been there yet, but it’s on my list and it looks magnificent!
• Tête d’allumette: This is THE place to go for a good beer in a magical riverbank setting!

Restaurants :

• Côté Est: It is my favourite restaurant in the region! They recently earned a Michelin Bib Gourmand!
• Victoria – verre amical: The restaurant at the Hotel Victoria is run by chef Marie-Fleur Saint-Pierre. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and each dish is more delicious than the last. I highly recommend this establishment!
• La Porte Arrière: As part of my collaboration with Tourisme Bas-Saint-Laurent, I had the opportunity to try La Porte Arrière, a Michelin-recommended restaurant. The menu is based on local produce, and the dishes are executed to perfection.
• Boulangerie Niemand: The cutest bakery! Their breads are simply delicious!
