A day in the life of a food content creator!

The job of content creator can be mysterious to many, so I thought I’d show you what a typical day in my life looks like, as a food content creator!

Morning

• 7:00 am : Wake-up call. I’ve got into the habit of waking up early so that I can take my time in the morning. I don’t like to be rushed, so I prefer to set my alarm 15 minutes earlier so that I can enjoy my little moments at the start of the day!
• 7:30 am : Morning routine. When I get up, I head straight to the kitchen to make myself a cup of tea. I haven’t drunk coffee for a few years now, as it doesn’t suit me at all. Instead, I opt for my favorite teas, like green tea with mint or chai tea. Then I take about 1 hour to do my make-up and hair. Yes, yes, it’s a lot, but it’s an important moment that allows me to take care of myself and get my day off to a good start! While I’m getting ready, I like to listen to a podcast or a Master Class. Two birds with one stone! I really recommend Chef Roy Choi’s class on intuitive cooking!
• 8:30 am : Social networking and planning the day. Before I start preparing my lunch, I take a moment to respond to comments and questions on my social networks. I also take the opportunity to plan the tasks I’ll have to do during the day. Every day is different, and I think that’s one of my favorite things about my job!
• 9:00 a.m. : Lunch. If you know me, you know how important breakfast is to me! I love to start the day with a satisfying meal. It has to be both nourishing and aesthetically pleasing… I eat with my eyes first, so I like to make beautiful presentations, even for lunch!
• 9:30 am : E-mails. The inevitable!
• 9:45 am : Grocery store. Even though I always try to plan the recipes I’m going to create and film during the week, I still end up going to the grocery store almost every day. I forget ingredients, I modify recipes, or I change them completely! It sometimes forces me to go back for just one ingredient haha! Fortunately, I live close to several grocery stores, including one I can walk to. I love being able to do my shopping on foot and not always having to take the car. It allows me to spend more time outdoors!
• 10:30 am : Preparation for a recipe shoot. To speed up filming, I like to have everything well organized in my kitchen before I start shooting. Do I always get everything right? No…
• 11h00 am : Shooting a recipe for my social networks. This stage varies according to the recipe. As a general rule, I spend about 1h30 shooting, then a good 30 minutes cleaning up. I have to admit that most of the time, my kitchen looks like a battlefield after creating content… So cleaning up is really an essential step!
• 1:00 am : Dinner. The great thing about creating culinary content is that you always have leftovers! So I frequently dine on the recipe I created in the morning… Except when it comes to desserts (then again, you never know!).

Afternoon

• 1h30 pm : Follow-up for my next project. I’ve been working on an exciting new project for some time now! I can’t tell you much about it yet, but it’s coming soon! 😉
• 2h30 pm : Research and development. Every day, I take a creative moment to gather ideas for my next recipes. I find inspiration on social networks, in my cookbook collection or on my favorite recipe sites. I particularly like Bon Appétit, Half Baked Harvest and Lazy Cat Kitchen.
• 4:00 pm : Video editing. I always save this task for the late afternoon, when I’m tired and less motivated. It’s fun and it’s done relatively quickly, so it’s the perfect way to end my workday!
